Will a ball patched with two .010" patches load and shoot the same as one with a single .020" patch, all else (patch material, lube, etc) being equal?

Don B

Don, It would sure be pretty close. The two .010" patches might carry a little more lube than the single .020" patch, if you are shooting pre-lubed patches. Having more lube wouldn't hurt anything. Do you just want to try it or do you have too many .010" patches and want to use them up? Le Grand

Yes, I have a bagful of .010" patches that I quickly learned are too thin to use alone in my particular rifle and with the balls I have. But mostly I'm thinking that it would be convenient to be able to use various combinations of .005" and .010" patches when working up loads.

Yes, I just tried that in a .62cal rifle where I had about 150 - .010" patches left over...a pair worked perfectly as a .020" patch.

I sat on the floor in the den the night before and separated the stack into pairs of patches, off-setting them back and forth as I stacked them so it was a simple matter to reach down and pick up a pair each time...saves tryting to do it in 20* windy weather at the range

I always dry-patch with a looser fitting patch than I use with my RB between every shot. Per Dutch Schultz.
