I'm looking to install a rear peep/aperture sight and front bead on my .54 Mountain Stalker, does anyone know of drop-in sights that would work? Trying to avoid any milling. The stock sights (buckhorn/brass blade) are crude, and hard to see under varying light conditions.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

How closely must the sights conform to tradition?

I, personally, want the best sights that can be had, so mounted a contemporary white bead front sight on my Investarms .50 carbine, and a Williams slide peep sight on the tang, right next to the hammer. That combination gives the longest possible sighting radius. (Better than you'll get from open sights on pretty long barrels.) Removed the screw-in aperture disk, for quickest target acquisition.

Have pretty much the same setup on a switch-barrel .45 and .58 carbine that I made around 1970, except I had to make the whole rear sight, myself, of brass. Took a while for the skin to grow back on my fingers, from all the filing of small parts.

They don't have to conform to tradition too closely, just work well and be durable.

Thanks
