I happened across a freebie can of dry lube. It says on the can it can be used on any metal parts, and wont freeze from -40 to +120. There have been listmembers discuss in the past about lubricants getting gummy, slowing down their lock speed. Has anyone ever tried dry lubes on their locks or moving parts with good success? What do you think the Pros or Cons might be of a dry lube versus an oil lube?

Biggest problem I have with most any dry lube is that it has a habit of being migratory. It winds up getting on everything in the neighborhood of where you put it, and some of the graphite-based lubes can stain wood a dirty looking black.

I have an 8oz bottle of tetra oil that I've been using for almost 25 years. One or two drops is all it takes and I've never had a problem in Chicago winters or summers.

I don't like dry lube, I take my lock out every time I shoot my gun, it only takes a few minutes and I know it's clean, when I'm done I use clenzoil on it.

I use moly lube spray on all moving parts, its seems to stay put and works well for me. I use it on my semi-auto handgun slides also...

One of the best metal protectants and lubes can be found as MPro 7 gun oil. A little bit goes a long way, with no migration.

Temps are MilSpec -40 to +650 degrees F. IT is slicker than Teflon.

Non-toxic, biodegradable, non-flammable and environmentally safe.

Their MPro-7 Gun Cleaner works great on cleaning up the bore and barrel bp and carbon build up and it is just as safe.

Pantheon is the company. They OEM many well known brands, including Hoppes new Elite line.

I forgot to mention it works (For me) as a patch oil if you work in a little amount. It will keep the barrel coated, and it will not interfer with the charge.

Mpro-7 is utilized by the Navy on their big guns, along with the other small arms with all other US Armed Forces.

Best regards,

Terry
