Well, not real sure of year(s) but the early ones are browned barrels, maple stocks. The real early ones have hexagon ramrod thimbles and" made in USA" on the barrel. Take a look at your friends and see if it has any of these qualities. Thanks for the reply.what year is considered early? Local guy has one from around 1984, not sure if he will ship or not.
Thanks for the reply, would you mind sending me some pictures? What are their calibers? Those are upper end numbers but, let me see.......thanks for the replyI have two, nice, but if those who have them value them as I do, the price will be high. I would not let mine go for less than $550 and $600. These critters in excellent shape, made in USA, 4 screw patch box, and octagon ramrod thimbles are becoming treasured and highly valued. Polecat
Hi. I really did not mean to imply that I wanted to sell. I was just giving you a bit of probability. One of mine is maple with quite a bit of curl; the other is very plain maple. One is a .45 the other a .50. Both are excellent functionally and visually. I don't have any pictures but if it would help you know what you are looking for, I can send some tomorrow evening. Dale, that would be great, thanks. Feel bad to see you going to the trouble of taking pictures though. I would like one of these in a .50/ .54 to have.. and to occasionally take into the PA deer woods during regular season. Tell me if I am correct - a .54 or .58 does not have a patch box, has round thimbles and no " made in USA" .....correct?Hi. I really did not mean to imply that I wanted to sell. No. Mine both have patch boxes, both say Made in USA and both have hexagonal ramrod thimbles. It is no trouble. It is past my bedtime and I have an appointment tomorrow but will be home early afternoon. DaleDale, that would be great, thanks. Feel bad to see you going to the trouble of taking pictures though. PM sentDid you notice the curl in the stock seen in the next to last picture? It is mostly in the butt stock but pretty extensive there. If I should decide to sell it you will be notified first. We are carefully avoiding crowds and doing all we can to stay healthy. I am almost 89 and wife has diabetes so careful it is.
