Economy patches is that a company or just what you are looking for? Cut up blue jean is about as cheap as you can get. Now lots of folks on here go to Wal-Mart, Jeans, Ann's, or Hancocks and get pillow ticken or linen and cut there own. I call that (ecomony patches) when you can get ticken on sale for $1.50 a yard makes a lot of patches.
Fox :hatsoff:

Cheap?

I go thru the rags we use at work, which come from a rehab concern that tears up 100% cotton, be it shirts, shorts or bed sheets. I mic them, glean a bunch of .015 and cut them at home with my "Brett Made" round patch cutter. I supply myself and son and Mr.O and his son.

cost is free, the free time is always spent with the BP stuff anyways!

I think that price is very high. I buy cleaning patches at 1,000 for $20.00 when I bargain a bit, or what for sales. That is a third less and more than what they are asking for these. You can buy cotton flannel at your local fabric store for less, and then just cut them into squares. They work as well as any round patch will.

I think most here are pretty much do it your selfers,(me included) don't like to rely on ready made shooting supplys. I buy ticking by the yard, find what works and then go back to the store and stock up. I hate buying overpriced shooting patches. I don't mind cutting my own. If you buy ticking by the yard and cut it yourself, it might cost 1 cent per patch? flinch

Actually I make my OWN, I purchase Baby Flannel Remnants at the Fabric Store, Wash them and use a roto cutter to cut them too size. last time i did this i spent about 7 Buck on Fabric, and still have a good supply of patch that will last another 6-8 months...

Paul agree about the price. Thanks to my wife's attention to my wardrobe, about once a month a couple of perfectly good tee shirts are deposited on my shop table...make pretty good cleaning patches. As for shooting patches, now that I've got my .48 mould, I have no trouble using pillow ticking...Hank

For RB patch just go to Wal-Mart and buy 100% cotton pillow ticking - will be blue stripped - in the fabric section. I cut mine into strips about 1 3/4 inches wide and a yard long. Use a lube of some kind - many recommended here - I make my own - then use a patch knife to cut the patch after you seat the ball.

For cleaning patches - back to Wal-Mart - buy 100% flannel material and cut them into squares for your particular caliber - I use 1 1/2 inches squares for my 50 caliber. That is all there is to it - plain and simple and cheap!

greetings all,

huggies baby wipes make very good cleaning patches. and they come premoistend.

..ttfn..grampa..

What a great idea for in the field cleaning!I'll slip a zip-lock with a couple in the bag next time i go out. :)

don't use your brand but I do dry patch between shots as per Dutch Shultz method, I use old cotton T-shirt material it is a looser fit than material I use to patch my RB's. I have better groups than any other technique, I used different lubes which allowed firing for say maybe 15 shots without wiping - this was with my tight PRB patching and groups degraded after 3-4 shots.

same here in oregon as well, locally.
we also have "Joanne's". sometimes they have red or blue ticking, sometimes not. But they always seem to have 40 drill! measured it several times and it always comes out to .015 on my mic!

wally world ticking always varied between .017 and .019 for me.

North Al, Great minds think alike  I do the exact same thing. Never bothered to precut patches for RB, just wash the sizing out of the ticking, tear into strips, lube up a strip and make custom cut patches when shooting. I also buy the flannel at Wally Mart and cut into cleaning patches. Cheap and last for a long time.

The end of a bolt that I bought runs 0.018", but it's the red kind, this bein' a red State and all.

Actually, the blue stripe measures .015, not .15" You forgot a decimal point. This is 15 thousandths of an inch, or possibly 1 1/2 hundredths of an inch, but not 15 hundredths of an inch. 1/8 inch for example, is .125" thick. 5/32" is .15625 " Thick.
