I would like to get one for my chopper collection but want to get an authentic one. I see that Townsends sells them. Can anyone give me some idea as to how close they resemble the real deal and/or have you owned one?

Wow I wish you were up front with it.
I’m not an axe man but looking at axes in Russell’s book makes my eyes cross. It looks like if one can imagine the shape someone was making it in France, Fanders, Belgium or England.
I have one from Townsend’s that’s thirty plus years old and still a goodie
Howsomever how accurate bit is to something Brits carried, I couldn’t say.

Whiskey, I bought this from Crazy Crow a few years ago. I don’t remember what that called it but it’s supposed to be a British infantry hawk/ axe. It serves me very well. Not too heavy to carry in my belt and just heavy enough to be effective as a useful tool. I stained the wood handle. And it wasn’t very expensive.

Sure, by the way, my buddy just got this one from Smiling Fox. It’s an HB and very nicely made. I think he paid more than the ones from Crazy Crow.
What is the full name of "Smiling Fox" so to google them?

Whiskey it’s “Smiling Fox Forge” their hawks are made by HB and cost $135. To $155. Not cheap but a good quality. The Crazy Crow one is good for my needs- out costs about 35-40 bucks.
