Odd number of lands/ grooves are challenges to measure accurately.
A trick I learned is to take the slug, put in in your caliper and with jaw tension loose, rotate the slug. The difference between high and low will be the depth of 1 groove. Double that and you'll have groove diameter. Subtract it and you have bore diameter.

Forget slugging a muzzleloader unless you just really like unbreeching a barrel. All you need are pin gauges and they're available on eeeeebayy for about $4 each. Most machine shops have a complete set.
