Didn't Knight just come out with a .52 cal.? I seen an ad on that some where. Rocky /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Can't say.
But, to me, Knight means plastic and stainless steel. Not in my time period.
I get my barrels from a little shop in Florida. Longhammock Barrel Co. run by Riley Smith, very nice stuff.

Ahhhhh.

'Ta hex is that, anywho? A side hammer with a squirrel hole stock? Poor 'smith must'a been facin hard times and was low on wood - 'ya can see where he had to work around a knot hole. Not sure what kinda tree that came off. Ain't maple, ain't cherry, ain't even walnut . . . Pussywillow maybe? 'Splains why he cheaped out and left the barrel in-the-white.

how does that thing shoot wit out no hammer??? I'll take my 50 hawkin

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, the scrilege.......an in-line, yeeeeeech!
I will admit it would make one fine target swinging from a rope at say 50 yards.
A .52 caliber Knight??? So what???
Ohhhhhh, I know it'll flatten an elephant at 1000 yards. :bull: :bull:

Someone said there might be an accuracy advantage to the .52 cal.? Rocky /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Rocky J,,, I believe there is accuracy advantages to all rifled calibers given their optimum range capabilities... Accuracy starts with the shooter and is the end work a shooter puts into the caliber they choose... I'm speaking with almost 30 years of traditional patched round ball experience, so an inline holds no interest for me whatsoever, no matter what caliber it is! :)

Well, since most of my shooting is at paper and in matches, I'll put my .40 barrel into it's Hawken stock and get with it. There's a good combination of accuracy, velocity and low cost of shooting. I could use a .50 barrel but seldom do.

With 35 grains of swiss I'm getting 1,850 FPS and still over the sound barrier at 100 yards. The only downside of the 40 round ball is a low ballistic coefficient which makes it more subject to drift and drag.

When I really need to thump something, I pull out my .72 underhammer.
