For our range's 50 yard berm - plastic tent stake, para-cord, and an empty plastic bottle (8 oz to gallon milk jug) spray painted bright orange.
They jump real well when hit.

It's hard to beat a target that rings well when hit. I have a bunch of steel that makes more of a "smack" sound when hit, I don't know if it's the steel itself or the method of hanging but I like to hear it sing!

When I was a kid we would set out strike anywhere matches and try to light them without knocking them down with BB guns. Maybe it would work with an ml.

In the markdown aisle at Wally World I bought a set of screw on bottle caps with valves in them like a basketball or football has. You can take an empty 2 liter and fill it with water (food color optional) put one of these caps on and pump it up with an air source like a bicycle pump, compressor or air tank and it explodes when you get a solid hit. If you nick it the thing spins around spraying water.

I love old bowling pins.. Hang them or just prop them up.. You can hand paint then like Redcoats or leave them as is.. Endless possibilities. They are cheap and don't take forever to set up or pick up. Clays on a cardboard sheet are fun too.. melt a hole in the clay with soldering iron and tie it to the cardboard.. (various ways to do that).. Mount one clay or a dozen and shoot away.

Popcycle sticks, tongue depressor’s, clothes pins, golf balls, cards and skewers ( both must be cut too count a point) @ 17 yards.

Small rabbit knock down @ 25 yards.

Gongs, paper targets or just tin cans work for me. I'm a cheap date.

We use a dueling tree to practice reloads under pressure. The tree has 4 plates and are positioned 2 on each side. The idea is for two shooters to shoot both of the plates to their opponent's' side. This will involve at least one reload.

This tree has drop in plates that come in different sizes to make things interesting.
We usually use the 6" plates.

No mixing, just peel and stick

Shooting chunks of ice is great in the winter they explode ! Looks so cool ! Railroad tie steel plates are great targets ....you get the steel smack and the holes are great for hanging them with chain ... any steel moving target .... Targets in mud is cool ! It shoots a geyser of mud straight up.in the air ... 1 gallon jugs full of water , if hit centered , explode nicely ... Clay pigeons are cool , just sitting there , not launched ....uhmmmm ..... Apples , old fruit and pumpkins ...hedge apples ... Tent stakes are fun , make em hang so they spin when hit , about 15 yards ... Hmmmmm.....wish I could download the VDO of be shootin an ice chunk , its pretty cool...

We put on a plains-game match as one of our woods-walks. As a novelty we wired little cardboard cowbirds onto the buffalo backs. The cowbirds had one of the exploding 22 targets stuck to the back of them.
