Shot a Tom turkey this morning at 30yds...he dropped where he stood and never moved.

This .62cal Jug Choked smoothbore barrel & turkey load is an outstanding combination.

And the load being?

Sorry, this was really just another verification of a load I'd posted before but I should have included it again:

80grns Goex 3F
Two Oxyoke prelubed wonderwads
1+5/8oz #6 hard shot
Circle Fly OS card

Thanks RB.
My next build I am seriously thinking of a smoothbore just for turkey and small game

Roundball, is that 62cal, a 1" barrel? I'm gathering parts to build one with interchangable barrels. A 58 cal rifled, and a 62 cal smooth bore, flinter. That would cover anything I would be hunting. Leon

Mine aren't really "smoothbores" in what I think that term normally refers to...these GM drop-in barrels for TC are really "smooth rifles" with rifle sights on them...whereas the more traditional smoothbore does not have a rear sight.
Still...functionally they are smoothbores and I've really enjoyed learning about them over the past two years...deer hunting, now turkeys, etc...have gotten a lot of satisfaction out of them.

Now that you are done turkey hunting and there is nothing else to hunt right now, maybe you will take that turkey gun to the range and try it out with round balls and compare how the jug choked one shoots compared to the one that isn't jug choked? PLEASE :grin:

Man, I've still got that new .40cal Flintlock that's just dying for some more range time...and it's a LOT less expensive to shoot than a big ole honkin .62cal...
:grin:

Rebel he could send it to you to test. :grin: :grin: :grin:
Let's see now, multiple choice answers are: (only 4 answers are correct)

1) When donkeys fly;
2) If a frog had wings;
3) When heck freezes over;
4) All of the above

:rotf:

Well rebel, I can send you my Ole Dasiy Red Rader.
It shoot round balls :rotf: and you can give us a report on how you get them to group. Won't even have to use up any BP or wear out any flints :blah:

Well that's a mighty generous offer but that old Red Rider may be worth a lot of money now. I don't think i would want to be responsible for it. :grin:

Funny you should mention that. :grin: As a kid I had learned a bit about muzzleloaders from my father and uncle before I totally outgrew the BB gun. I sometimes patched a BB with a tiny bit of tissue paper, rammed it down with a straightened coat hanger and fired it from my Daisy. I can't report bench rest groups but it was my impression that the "paper patched BB" was a bit more accurate and had a bit more power as well.
