Yes...8:30 this morning...bummer about your rain...it sprinkled on & off enough this morning to keep rain gear on but was never really rain

Atta Boy! Roundball. Awesome job. 40 yards is a long shot . The testing and patterning paid off. I had a sneakin' suspicion the Turkeys were in big trouble from you this year. Congratulations!

Roundball: Congratulations. I only hope that you can cook and eat that bird yourself, regardless of what the domestic supervisor feels about game you take. A small bird like that should be fairly tender, compared to an older bigger bird.

Congrats Roundball!! Nice lookin bird for sure.
We got a couple weeks to go yet.

Nice bird! :applause:
There are many here that would call the 1 5/8 oz a massive overload. Obviously you've done your homework and found out why I recommend those large loads for turkeys, you can't argue with those results!
If you're ever going to have a bird mounted, you'll have to not take him closer than 30 yards as those loads and jug choke tear them up so bad the taxidermist can't use them they're tore up so bad.
You've done a Fine job. You should send Lowell that picture, he'd get a kick out of it.

Right...I have no problem with anybody who chooses to use what they're comfortable with and I don't take issue with it...BUT...I expect the same in return...I understand Jackie Brown proofs a .62cal barrel with 250grns Goex 3F and six .600 diameter balls...so I think my pidly little shot load is more than safe...really not interested in being told that I can't do such and such because a load is not "normal" or something...reminds me of all the things we've heard through our lives...ie: man will never fly, man will never set foot on the moon, man will never break the 4 minute mile, etc...you know.

I probably won't ever mount any but agree on the yardage...I experimented with it at 10, 15, and 20yds...obliterated the the center of the targets...so I experimented with a few shots holding the bead just an inch or so off to the side of a turkey's neck at those yardages and that'll work fine if any are that close...the center mass stays just off to the side.

I thought the same thing about sending Lowell some feedback...Emailed it to him last night, he responded this morning, seemed glad to get the feedback. And to you, thanks for referring me to him...I've passed on that same referral many times now.

This Jug Choked .62cal Flint barrel and load combo is a Flintlock Turkey hunter's dream...and I'm stoked now...got 1 tag and 3 Saturday's left.

PS: one nice thing about Turkey hunting compared to deer hunting is there's nothing to drag out...just walk back to the truck and drive home.
