If the holes become enlarged from removing the barrel pins for cleaning.........Sounds like a good excuse for another new rifle!

Sorry I asked. Just learning about these rifles and never saw one without the barrel keys.

Sweet looking shootin iron. At the risk of firing someone up, I might add that I never remove a pinned barrel for cleaning, only the lock. I use hot water for cleaning both lock and barrel. I've found that they dry much quicker and more thoroughly that way.

I not going to be run off. I've seen a lot worse on some of the other sites I go to. Just didn't want to be the cause of the argument. You don't learn if you don't ask questions. I have been shooting a muzzloader for about 20 years now so I'm not really a novice but I'm not that familiar with the period type guns and with flintlocks. My favorite was and still is so far my TC Renegade 54 cal percussion. So seeing a gun with pins and not keys was odd. Just used to taking the barrel off to clean it.

Yep, I just went there for the first time on Sunday. It's only 8 miles from my house. Never knew it was there. Nice shop. The owner was very helpful in getting me set up for my new Hawkens. Wish this weather would break I can't wait to do some shooting.

Don't be sorry, now you know not to take a pinned barrel out of a stockfor cleaning. :thumbsup:
