yup - the hook is set for sure ... soon, you will be getting all excited about sharp bits of rock, and your co- workers will think that you're 'around the bend...' don't worry, they just don't understand (yet).

there is no 'cure' for this addiction - you only treat the symptoms ... I recommend the application of numerous flint lock rifles and smoothbores in a wide variety of calibers and bores ... this therapy must often be augmented with large doses of assorted gadgetry (patches and various lubes and molds and such)

good luck and, as always, make good smoke!

I shoot lefthanded flints and righthanded percussion rifles. It's fun to have a crowd gather to watch, but to set the hook into a potential blackpowder shooter, it's fun to let them actually fire it.

It seems that teenage girls are eswpecially interested in smoke and flames, and I've never had one turn down a chance to fire any of the rifles, in fact one wanted to learn how to load, so I showed her how, watched her for several rounds, then turned her loose (with her Dad watching her) with a handful of balls, primers and powder.
\More than one has mentioned "NOW I know what I want for my birthday" ...

Yes..I can agree totally with you. In fact, I showed my teenage daughter how to shoot a 50 caliber flint for a music video project.
We picked a wild & crazy country song for this 3:50 long video.
If you wish....you can see her & her ol' man in action here”¦

Yep, she's hooked.

Hope you enjoy it”¦..see ya yard hunter

Excellent! I had seen a short clip of that on u-tube earlier, when she hit the target! Lotta fun, lotta good rearing of yer lovely daughter. Congrats x 10 :hatsoff:

I'm already doing that. I look for rocks that are either flint or chard. I have a box of them in my basement and I've tested them each with my striker. They all throw good sparks. I've even used a few of them with some char cloth to practice starting fires.

I find myself looking at gunbroker and hunting out the flintlocks. I've been doing the same at the local gun shows and gun shops.

Yep. I'm hooked all right.

Thanks for sharing that -- I appreciated it. 'course it opened on YouTube next to airplane crash videos so I'm not sure what that means...

That's too funny. Yes, when those clips were filmed..that was the 4-5th time she's handled a flintlock. She has the posture & timing down pat a lot better now. She can shoot as good as me”¦...and that ain't saying much.

Hmmm, regarding those airplane crash videos”¦.been watching the show Air Crash Investigations which fascinates me. I can't imagine how the NTSB can actually figure out how a plane goes down. Interesting indeed.

Thanks for your comments”¦”¦”¦.see ya yard hunter

Congratulations on the find brother and having the rounds even on target is alot better than what I can do with a flinter. Those Spanish Jukar pistols are known for having very soft frizzens so I hope you wont have any ignition trouble with that one.

Once I get a chance to visit the range and shoot it I'll post a review. I have dry fired it a few times to check the spark and it throws a good bunch of them. I even filled the flash pan with powder and it set it off with one shot. So I hope that it's a good shooter.

I will post some pictures once I get some taken. I'll also post a review of the Jukar.

I've got a pedersoli kentucky that I love as well. Just won a woods walk with it too. That sure made the old timers a little grumpy!

Don't tell me you are on YouTube as well.

I've got some videos on youtube but nothing to do with guns. Just some old videos of a show that some friends of mine made while they were in college. I was the main guy in the videos. That was my 15 minutes of fame. :haha:

Well good for you man. Top prize cake AND grumpiness cherry on top with Jim "We heard there were problems with Pedersoli Kentucky locks" Chambers' gun? Win/win!

Welcome. What took ya so long?
