Blitzkrieg,
If you're gonna shoot them conicals, 460 grs, you say? Er, ahm, don't sit down at the bench and lean over your riflegonne. I had one of those and shot those conicals in .54. It felt like the rifle was backing off the bullet. And with that curved butt plate that can be painful. Now if you get yourself some roundballs the trade rifle is much more of a gentleman. Believe me roundballs will do the job. You get two round balls for the weight of one conical. It was a good gun when I had mine back in the last century, I hope yours will be to.

Ive got some roundballs, I only picked up the 460 grain conicals because they were the only ones that the local gun shop had in stock. I am quite expecting a heavy recoil and not likely a very tight group as the 1 in 48 twist is probobly not enough to stabalize such a heavy bullet. But I figured I would try them anyways.

Hi Blitzkrieg!

If you really want to use conicals I would recommend the lighter ones with 370 grs. I use them with good accuracy in my .50 Deerhunter from Traditions with 75 grs WANO PP.

Blitzkrieg,
I got really good accuracy with both projectiles. So, go ahead and have fun.

1:48 will stabil a conical up to about 350 grains in weight....But remember that with a real heavier bullet you wont need all that much powder...keep it around 50-70 grains 2 FF OR 10% LESS IF YOU USE 3fff....
Have fun!
