I suspect you might be onto something because if we carry the extreme example to the other end of the spectrum and use, say 10,000 fps, instead of just throwing the round ball, it may penetrate 20 pine boards. So the mean, reasonable velocity in the middle probably doesn’t effect the penetration significantly. The amount of powder needed to increase the velocity as the velocity increases goes up exponentially. Very interesting topic, Paul.
