Thanks! I think I could have done a little better, I wanted the darkening of the lock panels and forearm to be more subtle among other little things. I stained the wood with a golden brown stain that I made and then added even more yellow to it and then used French red over it. I tried brushing it on (French red) and it was way too heavy, that’s the last time I do that . I usually use lint free cloth and wipe it on. You can add coats if you want it darker. I used Kiblers bone black to darken the areas that needed it but tried to be very subtle, I need to work on that. I tried to
Make the steel parts look like iron that had been exposed to the elements but taken care of. I used perma-blue then rubbed it back. That was trickier than I thought, it was tough to knock back with wool and had to use worn grey 3m pads (very lightly) then go over it again with fine wool. It must be a pretty durable bluing, surprisingly.
