Got my first BP deer Saturday evening in Grayson county Va.. Little 3 pointer. My first time deer hunting in over 20 years. I had forgotten what I had been missing out on. I was all dressed out in my 18th century clothing exept for my bright orange knit cap and my gun is a GPR caplock. Next year I hope to have a custom flintlock. I am on the builders waiting list. My friend of many years, Mike Delp has gotten me back into black powder shooting and he played guide for me on Saturday. Some of you out there may have heard of his stockings. 1st class guy.

Trying to post pic. Lets see if this works. Thanks for the kind words. It will not be another 20 years before I go deer hunting again. What A Blast!!

Nice Deer and nice outfit. What a thrill it must have been to experience success with BP for the first time. Way to go

I'm glad you got back into muzzleloading. That had to be a great hunt. It's a great feeling knowing that this is the way they did it long ago.

All ML deer are special, but the first one is REALLY special...congratulations!
:hatsoff:

Snagg, I bought some of the clothing and some of it is hand me down from a friend. I have made me a haversack and have some deer hides that I am going to make some leggings out of. It's been a couple of days now and I am still STOKED about it. The people at work are probably tired of hearing about it. I even dreamed I killed another one that night  .

Very nice. :applause: Have plans to deer hunt in 1780 period clothing for the first time next week. But I'm carrying an orange hat and vest in my haversack just in case. Some of the local Bubbas scare the manure out of me.

Congrat's Haleh! It's a great feeling that first BP deer. I have shot a few does but am still waiting for my first buck with a BP.
