Today was a first for me. First time shooting my new SxS and first time shooting BP.

I was at a shoot for a few hours today. I only shot off 40 shots and only about 30 of those were at birds. The other 10 where to try figure this BP thing out.

Well I am hooked, i have been wingshooting before with regular shotgun and i must admit that this is a lot slower but much more fun. I am picking my shots where before i would just about shoot at anything.

I learn't quite a lot on this trip and will be better prepared next time.
I didn't shoot very well, i missed a lot of easy shots, but it has been quite a while since i last shot, so next time will be better im sure.

I dont see myself ever shooting regular shotgun again. I am hooked on BP

A pic below with what i collected a couple got away. A few rock pigeons and some doves.

Muzzleloaders definately test your skills. On the positive side, they also fine tune them! Shoot it for a while, then go shoot your modern guns again and you might be surprised at the improvement. That was a big eye opener for me.

Congrats on your hunt and welcome to the funnest addiction you'll ever have.

Great Shooting! Do a little load development and to find a load the gun really likes and your total tally for the number of shots fired will likely go up.

Looks like a good day to me. I was wondering what size shotgun you are shooting 10, 12 or 20 gauge. I have a Pedersoli 12 gauge that I like a lot. My one complaint is it has one crisp quick lock and one soft slow lock.

12 ga. My right hammer locks a bit crisper than my left. Not really a complaint though.

Good going and I know it is a ball. I have not hunted with a non-muzzleloading shotgun in a few years now. It is WAY to much fun using the old SxS's muzzleloaders. Enjoy it and shoot well!

Thanks everyone.

I am going to the same farm this weekend i will make sure to post some pics when done.
