It often helps to open the rear sight/hammer notch for better visibility. the newer Ubert 51s have taller front beads and generally don't shoot as high as they did in the past. The bead is often thicker too and either needs to be thinned or the rear notch opened for a better sight picture.
This Uberti 61 with the blade front sight hits on as to elevation and needed only widening of the rear notch.
You can do consistently good work with the Ubertis and the bulk of them seem to be like yours- well timed and with light trigger pulls. http://www.amazon.com/gp/prod...true&_encoding=UTF8http://www.yahoo.com/?rs=1

That is some fine shooting, Mec :hatsoff: But what's up with 63 feet? Any special reason for that range rather than something like 20 yards?

As for the sight -- yep, that's it. That bead is so wide that it pretty much fills the notch so it is hard to see when it is centered.

The nipple wrench I've been waiting for has arrived. The first two nipples I tackled had a few pounds of torque on them, as I expected. The remaining four were less than finger tight. If I could have got my stubbly little fingers in there, I could have unscrewed them by hand.

I'll get it shooting in the next two days, then probably take a file to that rear sight as well as give a range report for Charlie and other interested parties.

63 feet kind of wierd but that was as far back into the mesquite we could get at that time. Here's one from 25 yards:

Now that you have the cones loose, there is not much cause to replace them much more than finger tight.
