I purchased a. 54 cal. Great Plains Rifle here on the classifieds from Kos. Really nice guy and although this is my first flintlock, I have a feeling it won't be long before I get another lol. I had a blast shooting it not one misfire or flash in the pan I should say. Ignition seemed to be just as fast as my caplock. I was using Gortex 3f for both the main charge and pan. 80grs and a .15 patched with a .530 ball shot pretty well. Once the weather is better and not raining or sleeting. I'll shoot more seriously and get it all dialed in. After I got home I stripped it all down cleaned her up good. Then started taking apart the lock and trigger. Was no time I saw just how ruff the factory parts were. So I removed all the ruff areas and polished all the contact areas to a mirror shine. Now even without pulling the set trigger it's nice and smooth yeah it has some travel but, a definite wall then a nice crisp break. Anyway here is my GPR :)

First two @ 50 yards six o clock hold was center. Moved to 100 yards and shot six more 12 o clock hold not bad considering no cleaning between shots and I am sure it will get better now that the trigger is way smoother and I actually shoot from the bench instead of just learning on my truck hood lol. I think I started to flinch as shots started to have horizontal stringing still a dead bear or deer I would think.

Glad you are enjoying the flinter. For me there is a special satisfaction in shooting flintlocks reliably and well.

BTW, your prediction about getting more flintlocks is probably true. Trust me on this. :)
