I finally forged some pliers for my 18th century kit. Not that pretty, but they work. The 7" are made from 3/8" round stock and the 5 1/2" from 5/16" round.

Thanks everyone. I made the 7" pair first and they look like little tongs. The smaller ones look more like pliers.
If you try to make a pair, start forging the handles first, then the jaws, and finally the pivot area. Hit the pivot flats from one side only and make both pieces of the pliers just alike.
