Gawd no. I am never going to beat someone at their own game, Still don't respect the size of their targets at those distances. Simply suggesting that it would be really fun to shoot steel matches with cap and ball that are more interesting by using 8" plates. 5 targets, Minimum distance 10yrds max distance 25. Usually only one or two shots at the max distance in the whole match. I would be really surprised if there wasn't folks out there that can do 3 second runs. I suspect if someone organized an invitational match and put up some real prize money the top cowboy action shooters would be turning in sub 3 second runs before too long.

That is the style of match that I would like to soot personally because I find it fun. I don't know that there is any cowboy action near me and the events that they did have a few years ago that fizzled out required 3 guns. If you want better attendance have side matches for beginners that only require one gun.

Hi Nick, I've shot a similar match as you describe when visiting my brother in SoCal. It's hosted by Escondido Rifle & Pistol Club and is usually well attended. It's a side match after B.P. rifle match.
Closer to home is a 25 & 50 yrd paper match at Lamoille Valley Sportsman Club during the VT State B.P. Championship matches that has good attendance. I also shoot a 1858 Rem.
Sorry the above message was inadvertently placed in the wrong post and re-posted here.

I shoot the VT State pistol championship with a single shot. I see a few folks shooting it with a cap and ball but not aware that there is a cap and ball specific match.

Well I am happy for you on your Pedersoli, for myself after I bought my 1st n last Pedersorry ! Some people love them, mine was a nasty bad taste from jump street. They will never get another copper from me ever !

Congrats on your purchase. I'm looking forward to your range report. No offense but I wouldn't put my faith in any factory produced gun to meet all of my expectations. I don't care what name is roll stamped on it. I would much rather buy the model of Pietta I want, (wait for the sale too) then pack it up and send it off to one of the VERY good Smith's we have here on this forum. You will most likely come in UNDER what the Soli costs. And I'm here to tell you. A Cap and Ball Revolver tuned by Goon's Run's finer than a Swiss watch! As I'm sure the other Smiths here can do so also. I've just never had experience with them.

Disclaimer: NO, I'm not a paid spokesman for anyone. When you thumb the hammer on one that has been tuned, EVERYTHING else is pretty much, MEH!!
