I'm contemplating one more...something shorter similar to a "EdwardMarshall" rifle. Looking for the right maple stock blank with plenty of curl, not "soft", and not straight-grained so the striping radiuses down with the drop of the butt. Being shown some wood by some vendors....but nothing close to what I have in this rifle....any ideas??
Maybe Groff&Groff Lumber in Quarryville, PA . Got gorgeous quarter sawn sycamore from them for my kitchen counter.

First rate work, and an incredible piece of wood. Knowing the source of it and the circumstances the tree came down makes the story that much better.

I'd not seen that sort of a dovetail filler before but it is very tasteful and well done. I agree that it would be a perfect place for an engraved monogram or something like that.

First? You have nowhere to go but down from that rifle!

We'll see....No.2 about to start taking shape. Wanted something a bit shorter....Parts have all arrived.

Oh my. That is beautiful. Wonderful piece of wood, and just a light tasteful embelishment with the silver wire, as I would love to have done.
