My rendering of a 1700's powder horn (slightly modernized). Steer horn, a chunk of horse lead, some leather scraps and a German silver "star". The star was inlaid (sp?) into the butt cap. The horn was etched using a #16 bladed Xacto knife. The etching is a freehand sketch based on a 1754 map of my area. The horn was polished then hand rubbed with a combination of beeswax and lanolin. It holds about 9 ounces of powder.
After a few more projects have been completed, I think I will try for a travel and pocket horn.
