Well, here is what I got for my very first horn scratchings so far. Used a pen ink then 0000 steel wool to smooth it. Once I'm finished, I'll seal it with Johnson's Paste Wax. I know the one horn looks kind of silly but, my next horn will be better!

 "Silly" or not, nice work. Just the sort of thing a hunter would put on his own horn.

We all gotta start somewhere! Maybe fill in with some finer lines and ink to give depth? Just an idea. My first wolf looked like I gave it a black eye after it filled in with "stuff"

Thanks guys! Didn't really have an idea so, I just went with what was in my mind. Here's more and I'm not done yet.

Thank you! While I ain't no Picaso, I am having a lot of fun with this. :haha:

First I drew everything on with a pencil and then I used a scribe hobby tool form Coulter Precision. That tool is a wonder for someone who has never done this kind of thing before!

Thanks Tom, that means a lot! My Fleur de lis did not come out as well as I wanted but, it is a hunting horn after all!

I like it. Not silly at all.

Dumb question: where do you get a horn?

Where it says his horn put an arrow pointing toward a one horned bull :rotf:

I would give anything just to be able to draw water :( That looks real original to me like someone back then waitin for a shot and bidin his time.I have a really weird horn here but just don't have the talent!Like to have it made into some kind of powder horn.

Your first engraving (Not scratching or Scrim!) looks good, but stay away from using marking pens, as the ink fades to blue and eventually goes away, wax sealed or not. UV rays is the culprit!

Wow, Chief, that's one cool looking horn. Have to admit I've never seen one like it. I'd like to see someone do that one up into a unique powder horn!

Like it has finger grooves in in it naturally,it's the size of maybe small to medium cow horn and translucent..
