First time carving

I got bored on a rainy Saturday and watched a movie with my son,
(The Patriot), happened to see his tomahawk and decided I was going to try my hand at the same design.
Having very little woodworking skills, I gave it a try, still not done with the detail work.
Let me know what you think.

Used India ink to darken it, it took 2 wipes to get it to look like that.

The handle is a replacement walnut.
I kept the original hickory safe just in case this one didn’t turn out so good.

I used a mechanical pencil to draw out the design and carved it using a leather tool to groove the lines.

Love the use of the leather working tool for doing the lines.

It is interesting how items can be used for other types of work.
