flint questions

My Flint measures 1" long. It rests on the frizzen, well just touching. Is this wrong? This is the lock on my Northwest trade gun. It appears my frizzen has been resoled I guess.

If the flint is just touching the frizzen when the lock is at half-cock and its width is the same as the frizzen face, you have a perfect size.

As lng as the flint is not pushing the frizzen up, you are fine.

Cut a notch in the fold of the leather so the flint can be set back a little bit and it will be even better to go.

I knapped flint back about 1/16 of a inch it sparks great. will have to order some flints soon.
