Flint size

I have a rifle with a Chet Sholtz flintlock on it. Does anyone familiar with this lock know what size flint works best in this lock? I need to order some and don't want the wrong size. Thanks.

I believe it’s a small lock and needs 5/8” x 3/4” flints.

Alby. While I'm not familiar with the specific lock, get the measurement across the frizzen. Then, with the lock at half cock, take a measurement from the jaw screw inside the jaws to close to the frizzen face with the frizzen closed. That should give you a rough estimate of the length.

I think Rich posted a second before me, so you can use my method to verify his specs.

Thanks rich and spike buck, I haven't fired this rifle in 20 years and should have known but am getting old and forgetful. I will order some soon.

Making a dummy flint from a piece of wood works. Sharpen one end. Find out what length allows the frizzen to stay closed at half cock, contacts the frizzen 2/3 of the way up, and flips the frizzen open when fired. Length is the most important dimension.
