What do i have to do to a flintlock barrel to make it a percussion barrel? the barrel just has a tiny hole where the drum would go i assume. thanks.

I moved your post because the subject gets into gunsmithing. Hope you don't mind.

You will have to buy a side drum, drill and tap the barrel for it, buy a nipple, drill and tap the drum for the nipple and change the lock (or at least the hammer).

If your gun is a factory gun, you might be able to find a replacement lock in percussion for it.
Some of the older guns like CVA are getting hard to find parts for because CVA quit making Traditional guns.
If it is a factory gun, and if you can find a lock and drum for it this shouldn't be too big of a problem as long as you realize the drum threads will probably be metric and finding a large metric tap might take a little looking.

Another thing to consider.
There are a lot of people on this site that think Flintlocks are the neatest thing sense sliced bread. You might want to consider selling it thru our classified ad's and just buying a percussion gun.

no i dont mind at all, sorry i put it in the wrong spot. yeah its for a jukar kentucky rifle. i already have a percussion lock for it. i would rather make my rifles flintlocks but the locks are hard to find and expensive. i got this gun without the lock so i figured i would change it to percussion since i had a percussion lock that fit.

I see.
Will, first off, Jukar hasn't made or sold a gun in more than a decade so finding a factory drum may be impossible.
Track of the Wolf shows a 12.5mm (.492) diameter drum which is supposed to fit a Jukar is available for a few bucks (Their catalog says it is a 1.25mm which is obviously a missprint because 1.25mm is less than 1/16 inch in diameter. This same ad says the thread is a 6-1mm which is about 1/4 inch. That also seems to me to be a bit small, but it might be correct). The catalog number is #Drum-CVA.

If your lock is made to be used with a 12.5mm drum, you could buy a drum from Track of the Wolf which is 1/2 inch in diameter. It will have UN (American) threads on it and a little filing on the lock relief will allow it to fit the lock.

thanks again! i was actually just looking on there to see if they make flintlocks that would fit my guns. to my knowledge the CVA and the JUKAR parts look pretty interchangable. and to my knowledge its easier to make a percussion barrel flint then it is the other way around. but the locks im sure are pricey.
