Plainsman got the same advice over on the Muzzleloader Mag forum that he got here. Get some black powder and stop messing with the lock and touchhole.

please please dont mess with the firearm before trying the real black powder :nono: . I started a thread on here from about a month ago where I was only getting one out of three ignitions in my new flintlock. I tried the real fffg BP and the ignitions are now almost instantanious, with a wad over the powder I now have tightened my groups amazingly and I have just returned from hunting camp where during one stretch of heavy rain for three days my rifle stayed loaded (no powder in the pan and outdoors under cover) with a turkey feather in the vent and when I got a chance to fire and reload she went off flawlessly. GET BLACK POWDER and check my thread, the before and after photo's of using substitute vs. real BP are worth the effort alone. Good luck....
