Yes, I agree and think the price is really fair - provided it's all mechanically sound - and the seller provides the specifics of what he's selling. It's all well and good to "surmise" what it "was" when it was originally sold. A lot of 'stuff' happens over 30-40+ years. IMO, The seller should be as clear as possible about what he selling for that price point.

5.5 lbs?! I am wondering if someone rebarreled the .32 version of this. I know the .50 was 15/16 across the flats, at least the one we own. And it was heavy!

First, let me say that I'm not interested in buying the rifle, but am interested in knowing about the wood. EcoRover's rifle has exquisitely straight grained wood, could be anything, but the OP's has figured wood ahead of the lock area. The lock area, wrist and buttstock are pretty straight grained with only a bit of figure, and not tiger striped like the foreend. Is this a blowtorch burnished stock? If so, why not do the whole thing, not just the foreend? I'm interested in trying to add figure to a couple of my very straight grained ML's.

I have two that are one serial apart. I am sure they were kits as I had to have some things fixed that would not have made it out the door in a production gun. I asked Dixie and, in their rudeness, they blew me off saying the records were not digitized.

This is getting interesting. 3/4" across the flats and that big caliber with round bottom rifling is definitely not something sold by Dixie. My Dixie 32 has a 13/16" barrel. But everything else looks like a Dixie squirrel rifle. If it has been rebarreled at some point how did they get the smaller barrel to fit the stock? Has it been epoxy bedded?

Very surprised your flinter has not sold. When DGW began selling them during the late 70s or so, many buckskinners competed very well with them.

Just what happens when you don’t even list caliber. I get leaving out weight and LOP but caliber is somewhat necessary.

.36 caliber maybe? Can't be .50, that would leave only 1/8 wall thickness. Looks thicker than that. Whoever buys it needs to report back to all us armchair quarterbacks! LOL

I have for sale a flintlock that unfortunately I do not know a whole lot about. The set triggers work perfectly, sparks well, and is in overall great condition. The hole in the stock might have been a spot for patch box, unsure. Someone mentioned that it maybe a Dixie gun. I do not know the caliber and there is nothing written on the barrel. It is a beautiful gun and would look great over a fireplace or work great hunting/shooting. I am asking 750 with shipping included. Just need a bit more info. That’s a desirable rifle with a ton of potential. Just a few more details and I bet it sells quick.

On a whim, I bought it. I also downloaded the pictures of the muzzle, reduced them down and took some measurements, did some math. It's looking like a .40 cal. Once I get it I'll do some more "precise" measurements and let everyone know.
