Our club has monthly shoots and we tipically have anywhere from 7 to 15 shooters show up on average, and of those shooters, only one or two shooters use caplocks the rest use flint.

I am from PA and flintlocks rule because of our after Christmas season requires it. I have never seen a percussion rifle here in PA. I bought a couple drop-in GM barrels in .54 and .58 percussion but have never fired them. Not willing to sell them either though. I intended to convert them to flint but after a little research decided against that as well.

I like my flint rifles and don't find them to be much of an issue unless it's heavy rain I can keep them working.

That reminds me of the time I was loading my longrifle at the shooting range.

A couple of guys stood there watching me and as I finished, one guy turned to the other and said, "That's too damn much work. Anyone who would want to shoot something like that would like fly fishing."

I answered, "I like fly fishing too."

They turned and walked away with a disgusted look on their faces. :shake: :shake: :(
Zonie, I am with you on this one, shave with a straight razor, ride horses, and used to run around in a 1921 Dodge buckboard !!
I shot cap locks from the age of about 12, got into flintlocks a few years ago, and seem to prefer using them over my cap locks. There is something really magic about a flintlock, makes the game taste better to !!!!
