Disagree all you want, it doesn't make him wrong. Think 24,000 is a lot of shooters? How many of them have money in hand and are clamoring for an American built sidelock that they'll have a hard time finding caps for?

The membership of Long Range Hunting, Accurate Shooter, and 24hr campfire together are almost 300,000. The members of LRH (122,000) and Accurate Shooter (74,000) are mostly going to be the big scopes, sabots, and fancy pelts crowd. I'm sure some own traditional equipment, but largely it's a novelty to them and not a way of life like it is for some here. The muzzleloader is just a ticket to them that admits them to another week of hunting, they want it to be as easy as possible with as little handicap as possible.

Lyman quit muzzleloaders. CVA makes only inlines. Midway currently has 49 different models of inlines in stock, while guns using No.11 or musket caps is 18. They don't even list a flintlock anymore and I wouldn't be surprised if a large number of the "out of stock, no backorder" sidelocks get dropped in the future. They're going to stock what they know will sell.

Will T/C build traditional? No idea; probably not but some will hope. I think if they do, they're going to be a stones throw away from a thousand bucks (the GPR was ~$700 when it disappeared). I don't see them getting much traction if they go in that direction, especially if the word is out among traditional enthusiasts that Jim has eventual plans for a plains style rifle.
I agree with everything you posted.
My point was; and is, the members Here are not much into Sabots, inlines, or powder pellets.
That's my point. I was not referring to other sites where muzzleloading is an Also Ran.

I for one will definitely be staying away. They will be called TCs but the quality will never be there. Also anything these TV bozo personalities push just makes my heart say NO!! These are the ones that IMHO have ruined hunting as we knew it. All the posted signs, rude az people at public lands and all the NEVER ENDING DUCK CALLERS and TURKEY CALLERS just makes a guy shutter. Sorry Greggie Boy no thanks!!! Reds

They wouldn't dare make a traditional rifle again. They might offer the encode based model but it'll be supported by their modern bolt actions.

Not to over take the post, but i just seen where Michigan is going to have a traditional muzzle loader deer hunt if it passes the game commission . i guess a patched round ball and no inline , or scopes. that was the way it use to be in the 70s . last couple years you could have used a regular rifle during muzzle loader season, that just defeats the whole MUZZLELOADER CONCEPT to hunting

Now if more states will enact round ball, no inlines, TC will probably make a traditional muzzleloader.

My concern is that the cost of what will be basically a new start up will drive the price out of range of the average sportsman, unless the quality is so low as to be junk.

There were some inlines back in the day, but they were few and far between. And they looked nothing like the modern ones.

Inlines, or direct ignition by name rock sparker is some what of an old style inline as it using sparks to make it happen. Mules ear/slapper is a form of inline also the UnderHammer. The only thing i see there is really a difference in is modern can accept glass easier for sighting.
