For those with the TC 58cal

This is for those with the TC 58cal with a 1-48" twist.

My question is what loads are you shooting out of that gun and what kind of accuracy do you get? What conicals work in it? I shoot 120gr FFG Goex, dry wad, .015 patch lubed with mink oil, and a .570 Hornady roundball. So what loads do you shoot both roundball and conical?

.018 blue stripe pillow
Stumpy Moose Milk lube.
At 50 yds all 4 shots cutting each other.7/8 center to center.

Wow. 120gr of FFg and a .57 PRB. How does your shoulder feel after a range session? :grin: It must pack a wallup!

I was thinking about picking up or making a .58, but I think I'll stick around 80gr of FFg. What is the recoil like with lesser loads? We recoil weenies like to keep it lite!

I have a .58 flint Hawken with a 1"x36" GM barrel. The rifle weighs about ten and a half pounds. For 25 and 50 yards I use 50 grains 3F under a .562 ball. The recoil is not that much different than my lighter weight 50s shooting 50 grains 3F.

For 100 yard and hunting I use 90 grains of 3F. The weight of the rifle keeps the recoil to very tolerable limits. At a recent silouette shoot where I was shooting a lot of the 90 grain loads. You need them to knock down a steel plate silouette. No sore shoulder from shooting that much with the heavier loads.
