I thought it would be best to use the Lee slug like you would in a ctg. with a shot cup. Since I have my .690" round ball mold I don't really think about using it anymore. :hmm:
 
Ive got the same barrel GMWW has and it was ? choked to shoot both ball and shot (and I really dont understand a lot of that except it works fine) with a 600 ball I dont think I need a slug! :rotf: No Elafants Here in Texas!! Fred :hatsoff:

What if you were to flip it over and fill the cavity with lead, making a solid slug out of it? :hmm:

Could you pour lead into the slug without the fear of melting through the existing lead?

What about filling the cavity with a lead roundball sized to fit the cavity?
 
The reason for the big hollow in the base is to keep that end forward while traveling through the air. When shot from a smooth bore that weight forward is required to keep the slug from acting like a knuckle ball. I'd guess the spin imparted by rifling would allow you to put something in the base, but that'd just increase the weight. :hmm:
