OK, this comes under the heading of "sitting around the house with nuthin' to do but think up questions":

What's the bag size for your fowler(s) as opposed to your rifle(s)?

What different items do you carry in your fowler bags vs your rifle bags?

Aw heck, might as well throw this one in from left field: Do you prefer some kind of lining in your bags or not?

My fowler bag (made by Swampy!) is 8"w x 6"h with a 1" gusset. Unlined.

No loading block(s), no patch knife. I carry tins of wads and paper cartridges.

It has a central deerskin divider

My rifle bag is a "beef heart" shaped 7"w x 8"h with just a small flint pocket inside. It is lined. No gusset but the moosehide is very soft and pliable. Loading block(s).

No pics, but I'm in real wet country so my bags differ from Stumpkiller's, but only a little. I'm using oiled and waxed leather for water resistance.

My fowler bags are all unlined, but a little bigger- 8"x8" with 2" gussets. That's because I put my horn and shot flask inside for extra rain protection.

My rifle bags have settled in to 6"x7" with 1" gussets and no lining. Lining gets wet from wet hands and holds the water. I use tiny "day" horns inside rifle bags too, rather than hanging them outside.

Truth in advertising, I HATE horns hanging outside where their straps spend half their life tangled in our dense local brush. In fact that a feature of all my bags come to think of it: No danglies on the outside to tangle in brush. They're slick and as tangle-free as possible.

One other point- My bag straps are sewed to the bags at a 10-15 degree angle rather than straight, so that the bags lie a little flatter against my body. More anti-dangly stuff.

Good points.

I only have the one dangle & tangle - the measure on the neck of each horn. Note the one pound shot bag has a hollow antler plug that is also the shot measure.

My straps are short so I can tuck the horn and bag against my ribs with my elbow to duck and crawl under cover.

I rub mine with Montana Pitch Blend. Not watertight but it helps.

I may be mistaken, but I believe our departed forum member LaBonte, aka Chuck Burrows also said that was one of his favorites?

That's a new one on me. Can you tell me more? Thanks.

Brownells, Three Rivers Archery and others carry it. It has a nice smell and is a great dressing for leather. Everything from knife sheaths to my A-2 leather jacket and Grier deerskin gloves.

My fowling and rifle bags are basically the same except the fowler is slightly larger.

I just stuff one with wads and pre-measured shot containers and the other with patches and balls.

I just grab whichever one I need as I go out the door.

My bag works for both - the tin has patches of 2 different thicknesses. Everything else is the same. I never worry about grabbing the wrong bag...
