Fowler Shooting Bag

I've cut the pattern in the Forum's index on "Articles-How to" on the fowler shooting bag. I like the appearance, but I'm baffled by the instructions, http://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/213425/ by the assembly directions, especially in direction 2., stating both back and flap should be smooth side out. Won't this result in a flap with the rough side out when finished?

Am I confused and is there a pictorial of what the author intends?

I'm not quite sure what your talking about but I think your forgetting bags are built inside out, then turned right side out, is that what has you confused? If you have not, I would highly recommend T.C Alberts book on making bags, easy to explain and it will have you up and running in no time. :thumbsup:

I just finished this exact same bag in elk hide. I antiqued it with coffee and neatsfoot oil. I'll take a few pics and post em up when I get home from work today. Maybe seeing it finished will help.

this is a bag made from that pattern ,with a few of my own variations this bag has worked well over the past few years

Nice bag, thanks for the picture. It is what I thought the bag should look like. I was a bit confused by the directions on attaching the flap to the back before sewing the front and back together, then turning it inside-out.

I do have T.C. Albert's book and it is most helpful.
