Update: Well, the cock was indeed just peened on the shaft. Put wedges between the lock plate and cock and it popped right off.
We will have to drill/tap/and install a new hammer screw. A new hammer screw is being sent from TRS this Friday (I hope :( ).
The tumbler has to be re-worked as there is almost no half-cock left - and the sear is really rough :(
But we'll get it done. Should be able to post new pics in a couple weeks. Thanks for everyones help and interest. Rick. :hatsoff:

Hi Fernando! At some point in the past the hammer screw had broke off. Someone simply cut the tumbler shaft flush and peened it over the hammer. But it looks like it was done a long time ago.
As for this being a modification from it's original "as found" condition.....well, yes, I guess you could say that it is. But I bought this pistol (very cheap!) to make a shooter. The stock was broke in two pieces and the lock was not in working order. This particular pistol does not have a higher value to a collector due to it's condition. So, I thought this would be a good candidate to fix into a working gun that I could shoot. So, the lock needs to be in good working order. The hammer screw from TRS will be an exact copy from an original French AN-XIII pistol.
The barrel of this pistol already has a new steel .69 caliber liner from Bobby Hoyt for safe shooting. So, in that regard, it's already been modified. :haha: But, I will end up with an original to shoot, at the cost of an Indian made replica. Thanks again for your interest. I should have finished photos in a couple weeks. Assuming TRS does their part :rotf: Rick. :hatsoff:

UPDATE:
Well, TRS sent the wrong screw :cursing: But that probably does not surprise anyone :haha: In fact, the screw they sent was three times too small!! I wonder who ever does the parts picking at TRS even knows what they are looking at??
Anyway, the Gunsmith had to make a new screw. Here is a list of what the lock required to be in good working order:
BELGIUM PISTOL
Reworked tumbler half and full cock notches
Reworked the nose of the sear
Reworked the sear bar to lengthen it so it would reach the trigger bar
eworked the inner mortise of stock
Reworked the nose of the frizzen to roll-over and lessen tension on spring
Reworked loading point of cock to change the angle to pan on fire
Reworked the pan for better pan to frizzen fit
Drilled and tapped tumbler shaft to 8/32
made and colored new cock screw

Required a little more than I thought. :haha: But she is now complete, with a .69 cal. liner, and sparks good. A couple pics of the finished project. Thanks for looking. Rick. :hatsoff:
