Oh NO! not the dreaded flint gremlins, we all have dealt them. Glad you gout it solved.
 
It's important that the frizzen screw shank fits the bore of the frizzen hole without a lot of slop.
Check the lateral movement of the frizzen, there should be very little side to side movement if the screw shank fits the hole correctly.
If sloppy then the hole can be bushed or an over size screw can be made to fit the existing hole once it has been reamed or lapped round.
