For Sale a CVA Colonial pistol percussion, .45 cal. Missing ram rod 6-inch barrel, clean bore, front sight is a brass pin that my need to be filed down to point of aim. Asking $125 shipped. steg49

The tang and breech plug screw into the barrel, once put together that is the way it stays. To remove the barrel and tang you would need to take out the tang screw and the barrel pin the barrel and tang come out as one piece. steg49

ok, that's what I wanted to know. Since its an octagon barrel I thought maybe it was like on the Hawken with the hook and tang separate.
