Hi all. I don't know if you've thought about this but I learned it years ago and this goes for all guns. After cleaning and oiling don't store you rifle butt stock down. If you do any cleaning or oil fluid will collect in the breach. If possible try storing muzzle down.
 
That's why I use my patch lube instead of oil in the bore. The lube is a paste and I just use a light coating that won't run into the breech channel. Even so, I keep the gun laying flat on a bench.

I also don't have to worry about getting the oil out of the bore before shooting again. Just one dry patch is good but I probably don't even need to do that. I like to keep things simple. However, you need to use a patch lube that's also a rust protectant.
 
Barricade in my bores. It dries and doesn't run and you don't even have to wipe it out.
Yes, these modern chemicals seem to work very well in old timey guns... once dry they can be reloaded without fear of contaminating the powder charge in any way and the thin film apparently dissolves completely on ignition...
