Recently acquired a really cute little fifty bore flintlock with a 23" barrel, the piece in very nice shape. One item for correction though was there being a gap of about 30/1000ths with the Investarms factory fit of the frizzen covering the pan, the gap being on the side opposite the hinge. The obvious choice for correcting the gap would be to take the frizzen off and work down the high points near the hinge side. Instead I cut strips of abrasive paper, oiled them and pulled them through the gap between the pan and frizzen. A gradual process to be sure but it allowed using the points of interfere to selectively compress the abrasive into the bottom side of the frizzen (cover) where there was interfere to be corrected. It went quickly enough once started. Glad I tried it as opposed to disassembly, work it, reassembly and check the gap (and repeat, time and time again).
