YES, lots! At least 1/4". Often more. The combs are high (like 2"-2 1/2" of drop at the butt), and the cheek goes more against the side of the stock, rather than hunkered down over top of it, and you need that cast off.
 
I thought so, and that's interesting.

Here is something percular that I've just run across, and it makes me wonder. Very recently bought a Mauser 98k, a Russian Capture. Barrel,receiver and stock are J.P.Sauer & Sohn. Everything else is mismatched parts from several other makers. When I broke this piece down and cleaned out all the Russkie burnt motor oil/used axel grease simulating cosmoline and took a close look, the darn thing has 3/16th to 1/4th perfect right hand shooter castoff! I cannot believe that the rifle was manufactured with that! It must have warped just perfectly in the 60+ years it was stowed away in an armory. A mass produced military piece wouldn't have fine features like this. BUT.....der Deutsch,being the perfectionist in arms manufacture that they are.....makes me wonder :hmm: .
