Well, its done! The cold bluing I had at the beginning worked well, but I'm wondering if BC changed the forumula for Perma Blue. Its hard to apply smoothly now...
However, the barrel has a very "aged" look to it, and, to be honest, I kinda dig it! I was hoping for the deep black/blue that turns brownin the right light like my old mossberg .22 did with the blueing, but This kinda fits!
I pinned the brass ramrod ends with solid brass nails in undersize holes, trimmed them and peened flat, then filed them flush.I then stained the wood Minwax "Dark Walnut", which I think is going to match quite well. Tomorrow I'll apply a coat of Minwax Antique Oil Finish to the ramrod, so that it looks nicer in the gun cabinet
I'll take pictures here someday when I get around to it. I put a good 50 hours into this gun, its not perfect, but I learned a lot. I had to worked on a cramped bench, which did not help things. I also have a LOT more wood and metal working tools now, things I always seem to need... ha!
Now to shoot it sometime this week...
