I made a travois frame out of some small trees. Instead of using cross members, I took an old rope and made a mesh pattern across the frame. To make it easier to pull I added 2 bike tire rims to the bottom cross piece. Just bolted them on with lag bolts.(No tires just the rims) It lays almost flat when loading deer on and is easier to use than those modern deer carts. Wider, lower base. Doesn't tip over like the store bought ones. Basically made from scrap. Have used it for a handful of years now. Sometimes have to drag deer through thick stuff before I can use the cart, but it works well where it can be used. Rims ride over logs and stumps pretty good and since its wider and lower it doesn't try to tip over like other carts I've tried. You could probably pull it behind an atv too if you are careful.
