I copper rivet, that way I don't have to look for the nose cap after it fall off...

I haven't had as good of luck using 5-minute epoxy as I have the slower set type. Anything to roughen the bonding surface is good. I like to use gravers that create a good burr on the edges, and something of a hook.

I'm another vote for using a copper rivet though for the mechanical bond. (Might as well glue it underneath too.) Use the advanced search function to find quite a number of threads here on how to do it.

Gorilla glue will work. But, if you use it use only a teensy amount inside. The stuff expands and any you get on the wood will require major work to scrape off.

Yep. That's a 99.999% marriage of ebony to walnut with 60 minute cure 2 ton devcon clear epoxy. Used about a dozen treatments of acetone not only because ebony is oily but I had to make sure all of the inletting soot from the oil lamp was removed from both surfaces before daring to glue.View attachment 124097
