I haven't had as good of luck using 5-minute epoxy as I have the slower set type. Anything to roughen the bonding surface is good. I like to use gravers that create a good burr on the edges, and something of a hook.

I'm another vote for using a copper rivet though for the mechanical bond. (Might as well glue it underneath too.) Use the advanced search function to find quite a number of threads here on how to do it.
