what is the difference between 2F GOEX BLACK POWDER EXPRESS and regular 2F GOEX BLACK POWDER?
are they interchangable, i know there is a big price difference.

I have some FFg Express but haven't used it yet, need to finish my Swiss first.

From what I have read and been told it is made to a higher standard and is comparable to Swiss if not a bit better. Therefore I would guess it burns cleaner and more efficent therefore generating more HP :hmm: per charge. We'll see.

Its a real flip up to me, got both and cant see much difference, the EX was made for the BPCR guys not MLs but it works than reg Goex?? Swiss ??Im not sure. FRED :hatsoff:

I was told that the Express has been milled to a more uniform granule size, and polished, whatever that means, so that you get a more uniform burning rate, and lower SDV. I can see BPCR shooters buying it to use in the big rifles to shoot those targets out at 500 yds., but I can't see most ML shooters needing that kind of consistency. They can't hold the gun close enough using iron sights and an off-hand stance( Me either-so don't get your shorts in a knot!) The BPCR folks use cross sticks to shoot their guns at those long range targets, and tang peep sights, with globe front sights. They are shooting carefully weighted and lubed cast bullets, not PRB, in very heavy barrels. YOu won't find too many of us walking around with a rifle that weight more than 12 lbs.! I am happy that Goex found it worth their while to bring out cartridge grade and now Express Grade BP. It means that the company is making a profit from sales, in spite of all the subs and those unmentionable guns being sold in direct competition.

Same ingredients.

Processed to give a faster burn rate.

In my patched ball .50.

The Express was faster than regular GOEX production. But not as fast as the Swiss in the same grain size.

Compared to regular GOEX the Express gave a more manageable bore fouling. I compared several lots of regular GOEX from 2003 and 2004 against the early 2005 production Express. On a damp between shot patch the regular production gave a bit of tarry residue on the damp swab. The Express did not. The bore fouling left by the Express dissolved into the damp patch quickly.

I bought a lb of it and finally got around to shooting my 54 hunting rifle with it.
The boys at goex suggested that I reduce my load by 10 grains.
I did, I shot 100grs of ffg express and at 100 yrds my groups shrank by an inch. I got an inch and half five shot group at 100 yrds. I will be using it for hunting but won't for off hand comps and general shooting. I burn through so much powder I can't justfy it.
Will prabably have that pound of express for a few years. I anly need one shot during huntin season :blah:
I also chronoed five shots and got more or less the same velocity as 110 grns of regular ffg goex. But the difference between shots was only 15 fps, much better than ffg goex

YOu can buy screens to remove the fines from FFg powder and come up with similar results for much less money than the extra cost of Express powder. Oh, you can spend a lot of money for the powder screener using the wood box, and wood drum to turn the powder, but a piece of screen nailed to a rectangular frame and placed over a large plastic bucket will do as well. Use newspaper to make a funnel to refill cans, after separating the fines. My brother bought the expensive screening drum, and some of the older lots of Goex powder I have really had a lot of FFFg and FFFFg powder in it. However, a recent lot had very little of either. I suspect that Goex is doing a better job of quality control these days, now they have a new plant in Louisianna.
