Thank you for the outpouring of support from the muzzleloading community! I've been reading the posts on this forum and receiving quite a few emails and I love how everybody is excited about the news that we purchased GOEX. We're working to bring you more of the finest American made black powder, and we're excited to keep the GOEX legacy going strong.

Mr Kulling-

I used to shoot Old Eynsford exclusively in competition. That is, until I became a youth shooting sports instructor and found that Goex didn't support black powder youth shooting sports. In our first year of working with kids, we had over 375 kids go through and I personally worked with 79 on safety and marksmanship. Goex was MIA as a sponsor or supporter and refused to acknowledge emails or phone calls. Schuetzen was not MIA, in fact, they provided both powder and caps. From that time forward, I've shot only Swiss and Schuetzen in both competition and instruction.

In the future, I would like to see Estes provide support to black powder youth shooting sports with Goex powder. We're currently gearing back up for next summer and certifying more instructors. It would be great to have Estes support in this youth education effort.

There may be others on this and other forums who blindly worship at the altar of Goex, but unless and until Goex supports black powder youth shooting directly, they will not be in my powder magazine, nor on my instruction range, nor anywhere in my educational materials for young shooters. I do not hide the fact that Goex powder is available, nor do I hide the fact that Goex doesn't provide any material support either.

I would welcome the opportunity to open a dialogue with Estes to correct this issue.

I do hope Goex supports some sort of youth muzzleloading projects in the future but to be perfectly honest I wouldn’t fault them at all if they bypass you and work with someone else, so far you’ve bad mouthed the company name on multiple forums and you’ve basically come off as a demanding, pompous mule to put it politely, hopefully they can see around you and see the good they can accomplish, just my 2c.

Thank you for taking your time to acknowledge our interests and concerns about the future of Goex.It really means alot to us and will not go unappreciated.

Perhaps continue this type of conversation with Mr. Kulling by PM or e-mail rather than on this forum?

If that accomplishes the goal, then I'm ok with it, the past status quo has been changed. Nobody else was raising the question and keeping it in the open. Most posts on this subject have been "woe is our hobby" with no comments on the future. Far too many in this hobby have sat on their collective backsides and done nothing to bring others into it nor have they done anything to help reverse the direction education has been going recently.

If my pointing out the facts and keeping them front and center makes me a "pompous mule" in your opinion, then I don't care one bit if I accomplish the goal of getting more direct support for black powder youth shooting sports. Your opinion is irrelevant to me in regards to this goal. The problem exists and is growing because there are very, very, very few of you doing anything about it.

Welcome Karl to the Forum. I can't wait to announce that Estes will continue the GOEX powder legacy at our next monthly roundball shoot here in Louisiana. Best of luck my friend.

Sir, Estes is the new owner of Goex, you’re attempting hold them accountable for what you believe are misgivings from the previous owner, maybe first approaching them with a polite request to have a conversation about supporting youth muzzleloading would get a better response than stamping your feet like a spoiled twit and presenting an ultimatum, Estes appears to be a good company and I’m sure supporting youth activities is important to them, furthermore, your attitude is a shining example of what I believe is hurting the sport more than anything, what young person or adult for that matter wants to spend a weekend with a crotchety old curmudgeon !

You don't know me personally nor do you know how effective our group of instructors are and you completely miss the point of attracting attention to the problem. I'll never make the mistake of not advocating for youth shooting sports of any kind nor will I ever worry about your opinion on how it gets done. We got where we are societally by being passive and letting others determine the course. If anything, I am not passive in this nor will I be, get used to or get over it.

This is a great deal, no more out of country dependency for B.P., I like made in America U.S.A. needs to be more of it. Good luck getting it up and running, might even be a good thing to look into production of percussion caps, there is a need for those also. GO GOEX we have been waiting .

I’m not local to the area, but if I’m going to be traveling near Penrose I’ll bring a rifle, round balls and black powder that you’re welcome to shoot if you’d like try a Muzzloader.

I am glad to see your company throw its hat in the ring by buying GOEX. The need for a domestic source of good-quality black gunpowder has been recognized since the 1630s, as shown by the early orders of the government of Massachusetts. Likewise during the Revolutionary War and early years of the United States, there was recognition of how important it was to have a domestic source of black powder. That need continues, though the uses may be somewhat different today than in those times. It is good to see the plan is to restart production here in the US.

No one has has questioned the effectiveness of your instructors or your dedication in advocating for youth in the least bit so I’d suggest putting your victim card aside for now, I’m sure your work is admirable, it’s your so called method of “attracting attention” to the problem that is the subject of scrutiny, maybe a better approach would be to encourage the youth to write letters to Estes explaining how the sport has effected them in a positive way and to kindly ask for consideration of support in the future, on a side note, I also am not a passive person, I will neither “get used to it” nor “get over it” so I suppose you should pack a lunch if that’s what you’re expecting.

That Penrose general area is home to quite a few ML shooters. Would not surprise me one bit if he has already had that opportunity.

At any rate, I'd guess that we have probably managed to convince him to stay shy of these forum conversations. :(
