Guys, where in the heck can I get my hands on a small amount of Goex Pinnacle? I think Bass Pro has it, but require a minimum of a pound can and then you have to pay Haz Mat shipping, which virtually doubles the price.
I'm really dyin' to try some, but don't want to buy three or four pounds to make it worthwhile, because of the shipping costs.
Is there anyone here from the central Illinois area that has any Goex Pinnacle or would be willing to split the cost of a couple pounds??

Goex Pinnacle is made by American Pioneer Powder and is basically the same as their Shockey's Gold Premium Powder. Look for that locally. Use the FFFg powder with CCI #11 magnum caps.

If it's the same thing as Jim Shockley's Premium Gold I would leave it alone! Unless that's all you can get!
Tried it when I first started fouling was terrible and accuracy sucked! :bull:
Do your self a favor and buy some real GEOX black powder. After trying it, if I had to walk to the plant to get some from my house it would be worth it. :youcrazy: OK that might be an exageration but, you get the point!!!!
It's worth the hazmat if you have to pay it for shipping. Find a couple of buddies to split the cost and buy in bulk. :hmm:

I agree with Cliff. If you want powder with the Goex name on it, get the real stuff. It's cheaper and far more reliable than the subs.

Never could figure out the hazmat thing. You can buy loaded ammunition, which contains powder and primer, as much as you want and just pay standard shipping. Separate the components, and now you have a hazmat fee? HOW COME IT AIN'T HAZRDOUS AFTER YOU PUT THE COMPONENTS TOGETHER?

I just had to try some Swiss powder so I sent in an order for some and tried it out last weekend. The Swiss is supposed to be better and hotter; well my rifle didn't like it nearly as well as Goex 2f. I don't know why I have to keeping looking for something better when the loads I currently have with Goex are really good.

I found the fouling from the Swiss to be much drier and harder than what Goex is. The Goex may foul a little more but it seemed more moist and softer. Accuracy was good but not great with Swiss but Goex was more consistant and accurate and won in the initial test. More to come this weekend but I am quite sure it will be the last Swiss powder I will buy. I didn't see it worth the premium price at all.

Well this would be expected IMHO.

2f GOEX is going to burn at a cooler temp, run at a lower pressure, beat up your patches less.

Plusss if you use a hotter powder and go to a max load you do not really get any faster bullet.

If the max for your rifle is 120 grains of 2f an a 235 grain bullet with 2000fps

Then your max load of 3f is 105 grains with 2000fps assuming a 15% powder reduction for the hotter powder.

Note: what has happened here your have not increased the velocity of your bullet but incressed the pressure and strain on the patch, bullet and lube.

For any load you try, if you attempt to use a hotter powder to duplicate a load you end up reducing the amount of powder you use a saving of pennies and still increase the strain on the bullet for the same velocity. Not to mention recoile.

As i may have said somewhere else i will sometimes shoot a 425 gr Maxi with 120 grains of 2f substantial recoil. Did the same thing with 110 gr of 3f and am not doing that again.
