I made a purchase from a work buddy today, I got quite a bit of powder, Elephant and Goex. I do have a couple of questions though, 1) there’s a few odds and ends like 7f, 1f and cartridge powder.. what’s the best thing to do with all that? I’ve positively identified the 1f as being correct and the 7f is like talcum powder… so I’d say that’s correct. The guy who the powder came from was a local well known target shooter, so he ground his own powder to make it finer for his flintlock priming powder, that’s where the 7f came from, I have no use for the cartridge powder nor the 1f. It was a “ buy all or nothing” deal. So I purchased it all.
I can’t sell the oddballs, if I could I certainly would, so what could I do with it? I will most certainly not use it as fertilizer..

Offer it to a local cw reenactor group.

Oh man if I were closer I’d put that 1F to good use!

UPS shipping office might be a good spot to ask. Another forum I am on has a S&S page and after scanning 10 pages there was no powder for sale.
Now that could be because the stuff is like gold. I myself have some Goex I would sell but do not want it listed online nor do I want the wrong people
thinking I'm up to nefarious things.

I get the best patterns out of my 12ga fowler with 1F and a Skychief load. I tried it in my .54 Haines rifle, it was just OK but didn't shoot as tight a group as 2F, I didn't experiment any with different loads.

I bought 10# of it when I was planning to go strictly smoothbore, I lost my good turkey hunting ground and a bad hip replacement limited my mobility. I sold 6# at the Al KY Longrifle show. I kept some for my fowler but I don't shoot it much now.

We never know what the future availability of B/P will be so I keep any B/P I have stockpiled now "just in case", I am well stocked.

This is my latest find, a full can thrown in for free when I bought some TC accessories from an estate.

@S.Kenton, the 7F is good for pan priming or to use 5 grains to kick start a Pyrodex load. The cartridge powder will give acceptable accuracy for larger bores and on the reactive target range such as found at most woods walks. You might be surprised at the accuracy that you can get from that powder. It will group slightly differently than your usual black powder. The Elephant is a dirtier fouling powder than GOEX so don't expect to get a lot of shots off before having to remove fouling from the bore. It too can provide acceptable to good accuracy if you compensate for the extra fouling. The 1F works best in the very large bore muskets and smoothbores. I don't envision that you will have much problem in using up tje powder you acquired.
